Changes in Georgia egg expiration date proposed

ATLANTA — The Georgia Department of Agriculture is proposing to amend the rule relating to the expiration date for packed eggs.

The proposed amendment will change the expiration date from the current 30 days from the date the eggs were washed, candled and packed to 45 days from the date they were packed.

Comments on the proposed amendment will be accepted through the close of business at 4:30 p.m. EDT on Aug. 3, 2012. Comments can be sent to Oscar Garrison, Food Safety Division, Georgia Department of Agriculture, 19 Martin Luther King Jr.. Drive, Atlanta, Ga. 30334. . .
