Avian influenza found at Missouri turkey farm

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.  — The Missouri Department of Agriculture has announced that a strain of avian influenza has been found at a turkey farm in Asbury, Mo. A preliminary test also show the strain at another facility in Fortuna in Moniteau County.

The strain of avian influenza H5N2 is the same strain that has occurred in Minnesota, Oregon, Washington and Idaho.

The department said it is implementing its plan for a coordinated response with USDA, state health officials and industry partners following confirmation of the avian influenza.

The facilities were immediately quarantined and the remaining turkeys in the involved flocks will. . .
