U.S. challenges China over WTO trade rules

WASHINGTON — The U.S. is challenging China in the World Trade Organization because of the Chinese government's failure to bring its antidumping and countervailing duties against imports of U.S. chicken broiler products into compliance with WTO rules.

These duties act as high taxes on U.S. poultry exports to China.

The WTO challenge was announced May 10 by U.S. Trade Representative Michael Froman, who said the action "holds China accountable for unfair taxes they are. . .
