SNEADS, Fla. — To assist with higher meat prices at the checkout line, Piggly Wiggly has launched a plan where the markets are providing a discount on protein products.
The company notes that its Affordable Protein Initiative will be in line with its commitment to provide high-quality meat products to its customers.
“Meat is the centerpiece of almost every family meal,” Kevin McDaniel, Piggly Wiggly Food For Less co-owner, said in the announcement. “If we can lower the cost of the main course, we’ve taken the biggest step toward helping families save at the dinner table.”
The company says that it is working closely with its manufacturer partners to provide lower prices, with the centerpiece of this initiative being Piggly Wiggly’s Cost Plus 10 % pricing, and its Power Buy Program, that offer promotions directly to consumers.
“We know that when our costs go down, our customers’ prices go down,” Cody McDaniel, Piggly Wiggly Food For Less co-owner, also said. “Every promotional dollar belongs in our customers’ shopping carts — not on our balance sheet.”
“Through our Power Buy Program, we pass 100 percent of manufacturer promotional funding directly to our customers and maintain those savings as long as promotional inventories and supplier costs allow,” Cody McDaniel added. “We grow our business by keeping our prices low, increasing sales volume, and earning our customers’ trust, not by increasing margins.”
Some upcoming promotions that the company will be highlighting revolve around end of the summer specials and the beginning of football tail-gaiting season. There will be promotions for beef and chicken hot dogs, fryer cut chicken wings, boneless thighs, breast tenders, as well as whole fryers for backyard barbecues.
