MILLSBORO, Del. — Mountaire Farms recently announced that Amanda Irwin has been promoted to the title of president and CEO.

Irwin was announced as the company’s president as of Jan. 1, 2025, after the retirement of Phillip Plylar in 2024. Irwin began her career with Mountaire Farms more than three decades ago when she began work as an intern at the company’s former Townsend plant that was acquired by Mountaire in 2000.

She has held several roles with Mountaire’s Millsboro and Selbyville plants. Among her previous titles include vice president of processing operations, executive vice president of processing operations and sales, as well as chief operating officer.

Irwin “will continue to lead our organization forward building on our strong foundation while guiding us into the future,” Mountaire said in a website post.
“Amanda leads as Jesus teaches us, to do for others as we would have them do for us,” Ronnie Cameron, Mountaire Corp. chairman and CEO, said in the announcement. “Everyone cares about her because they know how much she cares about them.”
“I am deeply honored by the trust that Ronnie Cameron and our Board of Directors has placed in me,” Irwin said in a statement. “This company and its people mean so much to me.”
“As we look ahead, I am committed to building on our strong foundation, supporting our team members, and continuing to deliver for our customers and communities while staying true to the values that have always guided us,” she added.

Irwin has a bachelor of science degree in animal industries from Clemson University, and a human resources master’s degree from Wilmington University.

Irwin will report to Cameron; and Dabbs Cavin, previous Mountaire Corp. CEO, will continue his service with the company’s Board of Directors.

“Dabbs’ leadership and support has been and will continue to be an important part of who we are,” Cameron added.
