Wendy’s issues antibiotic policy

DUBLIN, Ohio — Wendy's has begun the process of eliminating all antibiotics important to human medicine from its chicken by 2017.

The company also states that by 2019, Wendy's will  only purchase chicken from suppliers whose farms are part of USDA's Process Verified Program, certifying compliance with animal care best practices and policies to eliminate the use of antibiotics that are medically important to human medicine or can prove certification from an equally high standard.

These goals, defined in Wendy's Antibiotic Use Policy and Guidelines, set more specific requirements for "the partners that supply us beef, chicken. . .
