MONTPELIER, Vt. — The Vermont Agency of Agriculture is offering up a mobile poultry processing unit for sale.
The mobile unit, built in 2008, was the first of its kind for farmers to process poultry under state inspection right on the farm. It has a daily processing capacity of 250 chickens or 100 turkeys, with two operators.
The agency said the mobile unit was offered for sale after the original operator, Spring Hill Poultry, chose not to renew his lease.
The bidding process closes on Jan. 13. . .
