OLYMPIA, Wash. — An outbreak of a strain of Salmonella Heidelberg in Washington and Oregon has been linked to chicken from Foster Farms plants in Washington and California.
The Centers for Disease Control & Prevention has reported that since June 4, 2012, 124 persons infected with the salmonella strain have been reported from 12 states. Of these, 56 persons have been from Washington and 38 from Oregon. The CDC said it was not releasing the names of other states until it is determined how these illnesses are linked to this outbreak. There have been no deaths and no recalls of product. . .
