New donning, doffing rules temporarily delayed
WASHINGTON -- USDA's Food Safety & Inspection Service has temporarily delayed for two weeks until Aug. 14 the implementation of the new donning, doffing and walk time regualtions for federal meat and poultry inspectors.
The two-week delay applies only to the donning and doffing rule involving FSIS inspectors' walking time during the lunch break.
The National Chicken Council, the American Meat Institute, and the National Meat Association, sent two joint letters to FSIS Administrator Al Almanza thanking FSIS for temporary delay. However, both letters requested that FSIS revise and clarify its June 30. . .
