Fournier Foods drops NH plant plans

HUDSON, N.H. — Fournier Foods has discontinued efforts to build a USDA-inspected poultry processing plant in East Concord, N.H., even though the company had obtained most of the needed approvals.

In letter to the community, CEO Craig E. Fournier and Co-owner Omar H. Khudari said they were "extremely disappointed" the company could not proceed with plans for a nearly 5,500-square-foot plant.

However, they added, "It recently became clear that the project would require a lot more capital with lower returns than what we were willing to accept,"

Fournier Foods currently operates a mobile unit. . .
