End of the road for antibiotics, potential futures opening up

GAINESVILLE, Ga. — It is possible to overcome some bacterial infections without antibiotics, but it is challenging. In poultry farms, learning new ways to assist birds in getting through infections is crucial, because labels depend on being able to state that the product is antibiotic-free.

Keeping sick birds comfortable is always recommended in assisting in recovery. The University of Florida’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences (IFAS) suggests that by raising the temperature by 5 degrees Fahrenheit for chicks suffering from certain diseases will help them better maintain their temperature. . .
