Donald Wray, retired president of Tyson Foods Inc., remembered

SPRINGDALE, Ark. — Donald Edward (Buddy) Wray, retired president and COO of Tyson Foods Inc., died Jan. 18. He was 78.

Mr. Wray received a bachelor of science degree in animal husbandry from the University of Arkansas and joined Tyson Foods in 1961 as a field service representative. He served in a variety of management positions, including processing, sales and marketing, and in 1992 was named chief operating officer.

Within a year, he was named president and COO, a position he held until he retired in 2000. He returned to the company in 2008 as executive vice president when asked to. . .
