Chicken plant to receive tax incentives

DES MOINES, Iowa — The new Iowa Economic Development Authority Board has approved enterprise zone tax incentives for renovation of the Cedar River Poultry plant in Charles City, Iowa.

Cedar River Poultry will receive a $247,241 property tax exemption over seven years.

The development authority said the tax incentives were approved for roof repairs and flooring reconstruction at the Charles City plant in order to meet USDA specifications. It also requires the ammonia refrigeration system to be renovated to ensure safe working conditions for the employees.

Cedar River Poultry was the successful bidder for the former Custom Poultry Processing plant. . .
