JACKSON, Miss. — Cal-Maine Foods Inc. has announced results for the first quarter of fiscal 2013 ended Sept. 1, 2012. For the first quarter of fiscal 2013, net sales were $272.9 million, compared with net sales of $243.8 million for the first quarter of fiscal 2012. The company reported net income of $9.4 million, or 39 cents per basic and diluted share, for the first quarter of fiscal 2013 compared with net income of $3.1 million, or 13 cents per basic and diluted share, for the year-earlier period.
