NCC responds to ASPCA call for guideline changes

WASHINGTON — "The ASPCA's description of poultry production in the United States is not based on fact and in no way represents the realities of modern poultry production or the health and welfare of today's chickens," states Tom Super, National Chicken Council vice president of communications.

Super's statement was in response to a letter to NCC from the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals.

In the letter, the ASPCA called on NCC to update the council's guidelines for chicken welfare by calling for slower growth rate for the chickens and better living conditions.
