TUCKER, Ga. — How many jobs are supported by the U.S. poultry industry?

More than 2.3 million jobs, which generate over $177 billion in wages, and that are contributing about $800 billion in economic activity.

These statistics are from a newly updated economic impact study released by the U.S. Poultry & Egg Association, National Chicken Council, National Turkey Federation and the United Egg Producers.

“The U.S. poultry industry continues to demonstrate its tremendous value to the national, state and local agriculture and food production communities’ economy through the production of affordable, high-quality protein and the millions of jobs it supports nationwide,” Nath Morris, USPOULTRY president, said in the announcement.
“These findings highlight the industry’s growing economic contributions and its vital role in supporting American workers, businesses and communities,” Morris added.

The results of this study show that the U.S. poultry industry’s contributions to the country’s economy continue to be on the rise. In comparison to two years ago, there are about 307,000 more jobs that provide an additional $135.9 billion in economic activity.

In specific numbers, the study shows the national poultry industry provides 2,319,443 jobs; $177.1 billion in wages; $799.5 billion in economic activity; with $74.5 billion in government revenue. Since 2024, there has been a $44.4 billion increase in wages and an additional $20.5 billion in government revenue.

“These gains underscore the poultry industry’s expanding economic footprint and its vital role in supporting American workers, businesses and communities nationwide,” the associations said in the release.
