COLUMBIA, S.C. — Chick-fil-A founder S. Truett Cathy received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree from Columbia International University at the Bible college’s Dec. 16 commencement exercises.
Cathy’s daughter, Trudy Cathy White, a lay minister and former missionary, delivered the commencement address.
Cathy and his brother Ben started the company in 1946, and today there are more than 1,560 Chick-fil-A restaurants in 39 states and Washington, D.C.
Cathy also founded WinShape Foundation in 1984, which grew from his desire to "shape winners" by helping young people succeed in life through scholarships. . .
